Serendipity - A Perfect Dining Room

Corinne worked on her clients' McCall, Idaho home for five years. Her clients wanted a glass dining room table that would not take anything away from the amazing lake views out of the large glass windows.

Corinne's business travels, whether for seminars or clients, expose her to many objects large and small that her varied clients might like, so she carefully photographs and catalogs her findings in case they are needed at some future time. During this Idaho project, Corinne recalled that on a trip to Dallas she had seen a thick glass dining table in a showroom, though it had an unattractive base at that time. She contacted her clients, showed them a photo and described the iron base she wanted to custom design to complement the architects's use of of iron throughout the majestic home. The clients, who have impeccable taste, said yes. So the table made its way from Dallas to Idaho.

The glass table top is designed and produced by Wayne Designs, and was purchased by Brown Design Group from the Allan Knight showroom in Dallas, Texas. Each table top is custom made of hand stacked, kiln-formed cast glass made entirely from low iron lead free crystal clear glass and hand polished, measuring 120" x 48" x 2" thick.

Getting a 1200 pound glass table top into the home was not easy - look how many people were required just to carry and set it down. Ultimately, the iron base had to be made stronger. These custom projects are definitely worth the effort!

The table floats beautifully and looks like the surface of the lake continuing straight into the room, quiet and majestic during the day, as if it knows, paired with a divinely appropriate chandelier, that it is the star of the home. At night, with the lights dimmed, it recedes but shimmers, while the stars light the sky and the lake glistens and forks clatter on plates and the voices of those dining hum. The table is happy because serendipity brought it home.
